National Fitness Day 2015

The Health Rewards Team, with dazzling pink t-shirts on display, stepped away from our desks this National Fitness Day with high-intensity Zumba, circuits and fitness drills.

In case you hadn’t noticed, we’re pretty big on getting fit here at Health Rewards, and how can we expect our customers to get healthy and active if we don’t push ourselves too? Our mantra is to just do something, whether it’s a walk with the dog, taking the stairs instead of the lift or a friendly game of five-a-sides – we want more people to be more active more often – and that includes us.

IMG_3610As you might expect, we were pretty excited for this years National Fitness Day. Run by UK active, it’s an entire day devoted to boosting the nation’s physical activity, a mission we can relate to and really get behind.

The 9th of September 2015 marked the biggest and best National Fitness Day to date, with over 27 million people across the UK taking part.

For Health Rewards’ National Fitness Day event, we were lucky enough to garner the support of two of our partners- our new neighbours City Park Fitness and Donald from Scotch Military Fitness. With common goals to inspire and support others to kick old habits and start making some healthy lifestyle choices, we made quite a team.

To start the lunchtime event Christie From City Park Fitness took Zumba to dizzying heights! Her thirty minute class got the heart rate racing, to say the least. This lady is unbelievably fit! However, her welcoming attitude made sure that all abilities were catered to and nobody got left behind. We then went on to do circuits, by the end there wasn’t a dry t-shirt left in the class!IMG_3700

City Park Fitness also opened up their brand new gym, a well-timed affair since what better day than National Fitness Day? They even made it free to all members of the public, just for the day, to honour the occasion.

Donald, an ex Navy Marine From Scottish Military Fitness took the team outside and put us through our paces. Sitting down in his class resulted in a penalty of ten press ups – these were real drills! No extra breaks for us as Donald runs a tight ship

IMG_3680As always we were joined by our beloved brand ambassador Stephen Morrison, our favourite go-getter who will try his hand at anything active. Despite his self-confessed pain from his tough PT session the day before, Stephen managed to accumulate an astonishing 39,000 steps taking part in our classes and throughout the course of the day!

Across City Park we got together to get more physically active and not only show what we can do, but also to encourage more and more people to get moving with City Park Fitness and Scottish Military Fitness. We wouldn’t expect you to do anything we wouldn’t, so if we can do it, so can you!
