My roadtohealth Check

Ok so obviously having just started my vitality Policy, and being on Bronze wasn’t appealing to me. So after a 5 to 10 minute tinker on the Vitality memberzone i could see there was easy ways to get points, and get a body MOT – after all i was a fizzy juice aholic. So i picked roadtohealth for a number of reasons, (1) is was only £15, (2) it was at my local Lloyds Pharmacy and (3) i’m getting 800 points for it, which shoots me straight into Silver without even any effort.

I booked it in and went. I was see to within 5 minutes of arriving, which is always good because it’s quite off putting going to the NHS and waiting for 30 minutes. Anyways the test was broken down into the following:

Smoking

This was quite a strange test, it was a sort of lolly stick with a white sponge on it, that you have to suck and get as much saliva on as you can, before handing it over. It then goes into a little tube and if it goes pink then it comes back as a positive for a smoker, mine didn’t because well i don’t smoke.

Blood Sugar

The test i was most worried about, simply because of all the fizzy juice i drink. However it cam back 4.5 and that’s a good score apparently.

Cholestrol

This was the test that didn’t go to plan, not because of roadtohealth, but because of my body ability to quickly close any cut or wound. Now it’s a little prick to the finger and they scope in a wee bit of blood, it then goes into a machine and tests for your levels (again mine all came back good with a 4.23), however i had to get 8 fingers done.

Blood Pressure

We’ve all had this in our time, quick test done twice, my reading came back 108/90 so that’s a low blood pressure.

BMI

So on the scales i went, and i only weigh 68kg with a height of 175cm so my bmi worked out at 20.8 which is on target for my height and weight.

One of the most interesting things of the test was at the end, it gives you a predication of Heart Disease based from all the tests down, and it’s within 5 years, mines came back with no risk but it’s a great tool as HD is always talked about.

After all of this i got presented on a sheet and the Vitality app automatically updated, bringing my Vitality age down to 27!! Never been so happy to see that number. So not only do i get to see i’m healthy, but i get 800 points and the peace of mind knowing that i’m not 35 anymore
