Health Rewards To Sponsor Man V Fat Football Game

Here at Health Rewards, we truly believe in the power of a healthy and active lifestyle.

So we are delighted to announce we are the shirt sponsor for the Man v Fat football team in their charity match against The Sun Newspaper. The game will take place at Wembley Stadium on the 4th of June.

Man V Fat is a weight loss website aimed squarely at the male market. Guys on the site get support from other men – members have weekly weigh-ins and have to post details of their food intake and exercise twice a day – and the website’s free diet plans.

Health Rewards and Man V Fat share a passion for health and wellbeing. As an insurance company we are unique in that we encourage members to get healthy by rewarding their activity with things like weekly cinema tickets, weekly Starbucks drinks, as well as discounts with our partners such as British Airways, Eurostar, Champneys, and Virgin Active Gyms.

For many people struggling with obesity it’s difficult to get a good deal on Health insurance – and almost impossible to get cover for Life insurance.

At Health Rewards it’s different. We get our clients on the road to health through our Health cover, which rewards them for getting fit and healthy. Then when they have achieved a lifestyle change they are more likely to be considered for Life Insurance. The slogan we like to use is ‘Reward The Journey’ – and the journey from obesity to health is what Man V Fat is all about.

The Man v Fat Football League was set up in January to give overweight men a chance to play football. MAN v FAT football league is only for guys who are BMI 30+. The league is decided not only on points won, but pounds lost. So even if you can’t actually play you can still join a team and help them score goals by sticking to your diet.

Man V Fat had anticipated a lot of media interest in the football league and they got it: The Independent, Yahoo, The Daily Mail, BBC etc all covered our story.. On the whole, the media reception was good and reported positive change that these men are trying to make in their lives. It’s not easy for obese men to get on the road to health.

Unfortunately, The Sun’s coverage took a mocking tone full of humiliation, cheap shots and bad puns. Stephen Morrison, both a Health Rewards and Man v Fat ambassador, contacted The Sun to respond to their horrible ‘fat-shaming’ antics.

Man V Fat then challenged The Sun to a footballing showdown  – a challenge they accepted!
